Community Guidelines
Effective Date: 10/15/2026
A Community Built Around the Work
American Parqueteur is a place for hardwood flooring professionals and people interested in the trade to learn, ask practical questions, share experience, and build useful connections. These guidelines apply to profiles, forums, activity updates, comments, uploads, and member messages.
You do not need to know everything to participate. Ask clear questions, explain your experience honestly, and treat other members with respect.
Keep Discussions Respectful
Challenge an idea or technique without attacking the person sharing it. Harassment, threats, discriminatory abuse, sexual harassment, intimidation, and repeated unwanted contact are not acceptable.
Do not use public posts or messages to provoke arguments or continue a dispute after someone has asked you to stop. Report concerns rather than encouraging others to target a member.
Ask Useful Questions and Share Context
Use a clear topic title and explain the relevant conditions. For flooring questions, helpful details may include the wood species, product type, installation method, subfloor, site conditions, and what you have already tried. Share measurements and photos only when appropriate and available.
Distinguish firsthand experience from opinion or information you have heard elsewhere. Link to a source when referring to a manufacturer requirement or technical standard. Do not invent measurements, qualifications, or results.
Keep Safety and Jobsite Conditions in Mind
Methods that worked on one project may not suit another. Do not present a forum reply as a substitute for site assessment, current product instructions, applicable codes, or required safety procedures.
Do not encourage disabling safety equipment, bypassing required precautions, or using products contrary to their instructions. Advice involving dust, machinery, chemicals, electrical work, or hazardous materials deserves particular care. Readers remain responsible for evaluating what is appropriate for their work.
Protect Customers and Other Members
Before sharing jobsite photos or project details, obtain necessary permission and remove private information. Watch for customer names, addresses, faces, access codes, documents, license plates, and location data.
Do not publish another person's contact details, private messages, personal records, or confidential business information without authorization. Do not scrape the directory or collect member details for mailing lists. Keep messages relevant and stop contacting someone who declines further contact.
Share Work You Have Permission to Share
Post your own work or material you have permission or another lawful basis to use. Credit the appropriate creator when required. Credit alone does not replace permission. Do not upload copied training materials, paid course content, manuals, photographs, or recordings merely because you found them online.
Do not present someone else's installation or project photos as your own. If a rights holder raises a concern, cooperate with the review process.
Be Honest About Promotions and Affiliations
Disclose relevant relationships when recommending a product or business, including employment, ownership, sponsorship, free products, or affiliate compensation. Make disclosures clear and close to the recommendation.
Keep promotions relevant and limited to places where they are allowed. Do not post repetitive advertisements, deceptive reviews, unsolicited bulk messages, or promotions disguised as independent advice. Membership does not authorize use of the American Parqueteur logo or claims that we endorse your services.
Compete Independently
You may discuss general business skills, estimating methods, and your own experience. Do not use the community to agree with competitors on prices, discounts, bids, customers, territories, or coordinated refusals to deal. Do not share confidential competitor information to coordinate business decisions.
Report Problems
Email info@americanparqueteur.com with a link to the relevant content or profile, a short explanation, and supporting details. For a message complaint, share only what is reasonably needed to explain the issue. Do not post sensitive evidence publicly.
This website is not an emergency reporting service. If there is an immediate threat to safety, contact the appropriate emergency service.
Moderation and Reconsideration
Depending on the circumstances, we may request an edit, remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close an account. Serious or repeated violations may lead to immediate action. We do not guarantee that every post or message will be reviewed before others see it.
To ask us to reconsider a decision, email info@americanparqueteur.com with the relevant details. Do not create another account to bypass a restriction. These guidelines work together with our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Copyright & Content Complaints policy.
